We have a pet peeve post, but what specifically are your gear pet peeves? Do you require you rope coiled? Guns cleaned after every use? Knifes sharpened after each trip? Sleeping bag cleaner right before and right after? Boat covered and protected? What are you MOST anal about when it comes to your gear?

general matinence isn't a pet peve, so that stuff doesn't bother me. Rope doesnt' matter either coil'd or uncoild. Coil'd is easy'r to work with tho b/c there are usually less knots caught in it.

I alway meticulously clean sensitive metal surfaces, especially blades, before I store them. First I rinse with purified water, then clean with rubbing alcohol, then when that air-dries, I put on a coat of mineral oil. It takes a while, but it keeps 'em shiny and sharp.

I'm also very careful with my compass. Of course its kept away from magnets and speakers, etc. but I always store it lying flat and away from anything that will deflect the needle. Even ferromagnetic objects with no charge of their own (i.e. compass is seperate from knife).

I HATE it when I dont have everything. I got some much crap I can fill 2 bags, which sucks because I love having all my stuff. Obviously I only bring the items I need but something i'll find I need something I left at home to save room.

I will pack and unpack a dozen times (atleast) before a trip into the bush.

None of my gear is allowed to jingle or rattle. I don't know why that bothers me so much but it does... even in the car (door rattle or loose change) Evil or Very Mad

Hey Guys...

My biggest pet peeve about Knives are Crappy Sheaths...

I'm left handed,, and most knife companys don't pay attention to left handed users. I've went most of my life using right handy and Crappy sheaths..

Almost nine years ago I decided to change that!

Now I carry any which way I want.

my only pet peeve that i can think of at the moment is when people pack there bag with 10 different knives for goin on a hike, or even camping. they feel like they will be more "ready" and be better at "surviving" the more knives they have.

I believe in having a backup, maybe even 3 knives. but I have seriously seen some people post pictures of "their bush gear" and they got about 10 knives in it!
