FireBow Tips with Woodsman |
|
Here are some tips from Woodsman. He is great with the firehow and has some tips:
After you have the bow started (When you have made the notch and had some
good smoke) Cut the bottom tip of your spindle then core it (Make a hole
in the bottom) this will reduce the friction in the center where the
energy is wasted, the main heat comes from the outer edges of the
spindle......The flatter the better. Hope that makes sence.
Twist the string of your fire bow before tying it off, this will alow it
to grip the spindle better so it wont slip, do this numerouse times.
When you have alot of smoke coming and you think you might be getting a
coal, work the bow 20-25 more times with increased preasure and speed.
Keep the top end of your spindle VERY sharp with a narrow tip, this will
reduce friction so less of your energy is wasted.
This is all I can think of right now, if I think of something else I will
let you know.
Brian

Cool!
Thanks
I hear some guy say to put a coin in the hole of the bearing block, so I was thinking, maybe next time I try the fire bow, I'll use the bottom of a CO2 cartridge (you know, the rounded part) and put it in the hole or use it by it's self
