Yeah, I had that same problem.
BUT, you can set it in a small pan/saucer and overflow it then light the whole thing on fire. Boils water quite nicely.

It takes time to get it right, its all about the small slots in the middle
Dont worry you'll get it.
Also its really bad in a windy area.

Yeah, I figured that out real quick.
It won't blow out, but it is very sensitive to the slightest breeze.
I doesn't boil water as well when the wind blows.
Hey Turd,
I shot a video of mine, but I don't think my computer would ever upload it to something like youtube.

Hmm that picture is a little too blurry for me to see any mistakes.
from what I can see the small holes are a little to small though.
Here is what I made mine with, on your Swiss arm knife there is a big knife and a small knife. Take out the small knife, press it so that it goes through (the tip) and then slightly turn it left then right (so it makes it semi-circular).
That should do it

I think I've figured out the problem. I don't have a solution, but I know what the problem is.
When I put my pot on top it keeps the alcohol from flowing through the slots. When it burns the alcohol, it pulls more through the slots, but then I think it pulls a vacuum on it and can't get anymore fuel. It burns good and then slowly dies out but it's not out of fuel.
Any suggestions?

Maybe the stove cools down, then it looses pressure and goes out

Maybe when you put the pot on it, the pot sucks the heat out of the stove, cooling it down and the small flames aren't enough to keep the stove hot enough to pressurize it

Well...I was right.
After a couple hours of testing, I finally got it right.
You see, I didn't cut the top out of the can. I have plenty of air coming in from the bottom, and I light it with a small pool of alcohol in a saucer. The opening where you drink out of is open and I have three coke tabs along the rim of the top of the stove. I fill the stove through the opening or the bottom piece by itself and then put on the top. I set my pot on the top and the coke tabs allow some air to the inside. It doesn't light in that gap, though. I light the pool of fuel and it gets the vents going and then the pool runs out. The vents kept going until the stove ran out of fuel. It boiled my water, too.
You don't know how happy I am that this worked. I spent many evenings splitting hairs on how to make it work.

Very cool! I may have to give these another try one day. I know the last time I tried it I had a portion of my backyard on fire and didn't even know it!
