I posted this at Les's forum too Very Happy

I like these things (fresnel lens) because you can cut them to any shape or size and there thin and flexible.
You can buy them at "A Buck Or Two" or "The Dollar Store" for $1 to $2 bucks. The ones I got are 7"x10".


This one I cut for the inside pocket of my boonie hat:




This one fits inside my wallet:


And this one goes in my charred cloth tin:


They work very well with charred cloth:


I went to the river to play with this stuff:


I just grabbed a bunch of dry grass and put a peace of charred cloth in it:


And aimed the beam at the cloth:


When you see smoke then start blowing:


And theres the fire:

Very Happy

Those lenses are really amazing. A friend of mine had one and could start a fire in seconds on a CLOUDY day. He was using a slightly bigger one, about the size of a sheet of paper, but thats still pretty good.

When I was a kid me and my brother burnt a lot of stuff with the full sized sheets Laughing
I cut the full sized sheets down so I have one every where Very Happy
In the summer when it's sunny you can get a flame coming off a 2x4 in no time Very Happy
