Here’s really dumb.
Years ago two guys were walking out of a local bar and a bar tab fell to the ground. They argued over who owed it, then fought. One guy punched the other who fell back and hit his head on a parking curb and died. The other guy went to prison for manslaughter.
The bar tab was for one buck!

A better way to settle a tab is to tell the bartender that you and your friend want race each other, and the loser pays the tab plus a hefty tip. Ask the bartender to step outside to the sidewalk and start the foot race around the block by yelling "Go", then waiting for you to reappear from the other direction, and confirm who the winner is. Except when he yells "Go", you don't go around the block; you both just keep on running.

Ultimate Dollar Store Survival:
I went to the local mall today, but it was closed. There were people milling around outside, and several fire trucks parked near one of the entrances. I asked someone what happened, and he said that there had been a fire in - get this - the dollar store!
I went elsewhere and checked again later on my way home, but it was still closed, so I can't give any more details.
If I knew how it started, I could post proven dollar store materials for fire starting.

I think it was pretty minor. There was nothing on the news, and the first time I was there I saw several fire trucks and one police car but no noticeable activity and no ambulance. They likely just evacuated the mall as a precaution. I'll probably go over this week and see if the dollar store is open and if it smells of smoke, though I couldn't see or smell any smoke outside the mall yesterday.

I've got some more details on the dollar store fire in my local mall. It started as an electrical fire at 8:45 a.m., before the mall opened. Thirty fire fighters on 9 trucks responded, but the sprinklers put most of it out. There was $100,000.00 damage. (At least that 's the story they're giving the insurance company) The store currently has signs saying that it will be closed a few days for renovations.
Now, the big question is: how long can I survive without this dollar store? All I have is my SAK and a handful of Hershey Chocolate Kisses. The fire was Saturday and this is Wednesday. That means I'm on day 5 already! If it opens this Saturday, that's one week, the same length of time Les does his survival for. But it might take longer than a week for them to get it ready to reopen. I've started a garden, but it will be weeks before anything is ready to eat. Also, I need some recordable Cds, and the dollar store is the only place selling them for a buck each. At least the weather is on my side. It can go down to minus 20 here, even colder with the wind chill. But this week it has been pleasant; I've been puttering around outside without a jacket.
But it's still too far to walk to another dollar store. And taking the bus would cost as much money as I would save on my purchases. Survival rule number 1: Don't sell the car even if you live in a big city with decent public transit.
If I don't make it through this, it will be a lonely end. I don't have a video camera or web cam to capture my demise for YouTube or SpikeTV. You'll know what happened once you realize I've stopped posting here. But I do have the will to survive, and I'll keep you up to date on my struggle as best I can.

Laugh if you must, Flash, but this is getting serious. I was at the mall today and there is no indication that the $tore will be opening soon. I met my friend WD in the mall and he said he's going to start shaking if if it stays closed much longer. He knows what he's talking about since he's a reformed alcoholic who's transferred his addiction to the cheap candy in the dollar store.

That is serious, if his vision of nirvana is transferd to cheap candy from alchol that is a good thing. So I do hope it opens soon again.

Just to add on to this, what you explained is common. My granfather was an alcholic. It was really bad 2 years ago to the point he needed serious medical attention. Ever since he quit he's been relying on those "Red Bull energy Drinks", like your example of Candy, he drinks tons of those things to counter an addiction that almost ruined his life.
