Benchmade 556 Mini-Griptilian

Well, last week I ordered a Benchmade 556 Mini-Griptilian from http://workingperson.com. But they were out of stock and would not get any in for a while(if they got any at all). So, I ended up buying from www.cowboyknives.com. Their price was only a dollar more. Go visit Frank today, and see if he has what you're looking for. It was a pleasure doing business with him and I will definitely be back. Cool

He has an eBay store as well, but was out of stock on it, so he sent me to his website.

So, on to the review.

This has to be the best knife I have ever owned to date. Cool

The lock on it is the absolute best you will ever find. And it is also the sharpest knife I have ever held in my hands. When I first got it out of the box, my sister(the one who thinks my involvement with this forum is stupid) immediately picked it up. I warned her to not touch the blade with her finger(her and my dad are bad about doing that). She said, "Why? Is it that sharp?" Then she touched it to her arm hair and said, "HOLY CRAP!!" Laughing

She had a bald spot on her arm. She just kept on saying, "HOLY CRAP!!" Eventually she gave it back to me and I tested it myself. The hairs jumped off of my arm before the blade even got there!! Surprised

That sucker is sharper than the razor I use to shave with!!! Shocked

I let my dad see it, and even though I warned him to not touch the blade with his finger, he did it anyway. Rolling Eyes

And I expect it to stay sharp, too. Mr. Green

I've already gotten it dirty on a few apples. Cool

Even tried a little feathering. Not too shabby. Very Happy

One thing I realized about it after I got it is that you don't even have to use the thumbstud. If you disengage the lock when it is closed(the lock keep some pressure on it to keep it from opening unless you push it past 30 degrees), you can flick it open with just a little wrist action.

I was surprised it was that loose. It could probably be considered a butterfly knife.

I was worried about being spoiled so bad with the Blade Launcher on my Leatherman, but this is even better!! Very Happy

That Leatherman is going to sit around the house for a while. Wink

Well, that's all I can think of to say right now. If I get a chance, I'll get out and field test it. Don't know when that will be, though.

yeah. the 550 models are awesome. When I had my BM grip it was my favorite pocket knife. Its been relieved to another forum member, but the Spyderco millie is now in its spot. I have to say though, I still miss the little benchmade.

And the lock, yes, great......

Its in the top five locks on the market, I think the only one some people think is better is spydercos compression lock, though I like the axis over that ALOT more, much more user friendly, so what its worth, the axis is on the top of my locking knives list.

Now you have to get a 710. Laughing

I don't think it could be considered a butterfly knife... cause it doesn't have the two handle opening style. I have a lot of knives that open really easily actually, I'll have to make a video later.

I THINK you can adjust the blade pivot on that one if you want it tighter.
There should be an adjustment screw in the pivot pin.

Oh ya, keeps an edge well, and really easy to maintain it. And as we all know; One can never have enough Knives Very Happy

Although money is tight for me right now, im hoping to get the Grohmann # 1 soon. Then thats it for awhile.
