Do you play music? |
|
Anyone play an instrument here? If so which and what genre of music?
Me, I play guitar, your standard 6 string. I play rock mostly, Rush being my favorite to play.

If you take lessons from a good teacher(too hard to learn by yourself, IMO), and you stick with it, you can learn to play as good as anybody.
I took lessons for a year(and got pretty good!), but I had to quit a while back for various personal reasons.
I'll still play everyday, I just won't be learning any new songs for a while.

 | | Have a guitar, can't play it yet. | Same situation, I need to get new strings for it before I start trying to learn again though. The ones on it are the originals and they can't stay in tune worth anything. I am attempting to learn through the Esteban dvd set, we shall see how that goes. I have heard some decent things about it.

Played Piano for like 6yrs of my life as a little kid, and I was pretty damn good. Too bad I can't play worth a damn anymore, lol. My Mom, bought me a guitar 2 x'mas' ago upon my request, and I was good with it for about 2months until life started to intervene. I'll have to get back to it. Something very relaxing about playing musical instruments.

 | | Something very relaxing about playing musical instruments. | I think it is because you get to express yourself without needing words...as well as other things

Picked up a 6 string hollow body electric last March and have been trying like heck to learn to play it since. Which is one of the reasons I haven't spent much time on this forum in the last year.
Even though I'm not very good I still like plunking on it so much I recently bought another. Thanks to all the bad weather in the pacific N.W. the guy I got it from hasn't been able to get off the side of the mountain to ship it for over a month. He says maybe tomorrow.
Between the 2 guitars and associated equipment I have over a grand into this hobby I'm not very good at it but I find it so relaxing it's well worth it.
The wife's been looking at the Esteban guitars but is waiting to see if they are going to make one of the nicer one's in a left handed. They only make a plain one now.
If anyone's used his videos to learn, I'd really like to know how good they are. Trying to learn from internet sites is going a bit slow but I'm getting better.
