I forged this out yesterday and put the handle on lastnight. Today, I roughed out the handle shape. Still alot to do as I have plans of half wrapping the burlap micarta scales.... not to mention putting an edge on it. Forged from 3/16" O1 and tempered to approx 60RC. Full convex bevel.

The name comes from the Moro Barong shape to the blade.

Rick

That's a big knife. Still want to know a price, because those look much better than any store bought knife. Cool

Hot forged... you can't cold forge high carbon without stressing it to the point of cracking. Mild steel can be cold worked more easily... but again many stresses build and the piece can actually "work harden" and become brittle. A good example of this is when you bend a metal clothes hanger back and forth and it eventually snaps.... it has been work hardened. In the past, much of the armour they made was cold worked.... it takes alot of energy and knowlege of the steel's limitations.

That's beautiful. Is your sheath made from recycled leather or did you add the stains for style?
