Yeah, a heck of a lot easier than a figure 4, I'll bet. Surprised

Figure 4's take a lot of adjustment and fine-tuning...not something you're always capable of when you're starving.(point of advice-master it before you leave home)

This new one seems much simpler and easier to use. Cool

Thanks, linsleyk! Very Happy

found the pic on wild survive forum. Very Happy

I've made one similar to this in the past.
All you need to do is to get out your trusty Swiss Army Knife & cut a couple inches off the end of a stick:

Then drill a small hole a couple inches from the bottom for the bait stick to fit into:

Then set it up like this:

Just shove the bait stick in the hole & put the 2 pieces of stick back together & balance the weight of the log or rock on it.
In theory, the critter will move the bait stick enough to cause the 2 pieces of stick to come apart, causing the weight to fall.
Thanks again Linsley!!! Keep 'em comin'....I'm on vacation this week Very Happy

Not to worry Linsley...the squirrels around these parts are in no danger whatsoever.
They are too smart to fall into any trap that I've ever setup here.
I personally think that they gather high up in the trees & watch me as I build the traps, watch as I set them up,then maybe have a meeting to discuss how to spring the trap, get eat my bait & then escape before I can get to them Wink .

Or it could be the birds.
Yep...they might be tipping the squirrels off that some idiot is setting up another trap with some tasty bait in it & telling them the secret details of the evil device.
Yep...that could be it...a CONSPIRACY !!!

I just like making these things whether I catch anything or not.
If I did catch a critter either my wife would make me let it go or my daughter would want it as a pet Laughing

The squirrels ran the Mafia out of my town. And the racoons control the bike gangs.
