> EVENING PRIMROSE <
- Description: Yellow flower; biennial, second year erect plant, leaves lance shaped, pointed tip, fine toothed margin. Evening Primrose, is found in fields, bordering wooded areas. The flowers, roots & seeds are edible.
- Cooking Tips: Dip flowers in egg whites. Roll them in sugar. Then deep fry.
- Pharmaceutical Uses: Plant parts contain Gamma Linolentic Acid ( GLA ). GLA may prevent acne, alcoholism, obesity & schizophrenia ( as yet unproven ).

- Description: Pea-like plant; numerous tubers along root, leaves alternate, compound featherlike, seeds in long pod. Ground nut grows on wet ground, along the fringes of streams, bogs & thickets. Its a climbing pea-like vine, developing numerous tubers along the length of its root.
- Cooking Tips: Seeds are edible. Cook them like lentils. Tubers of Apios are 15 % protein, a great potato substitute.

Description: Small tree with aromatic limbs, leaves and roots. Decoctions from root was used as a tea substitute during colonial times.
The leaves usually have two or three lobes, are alternate. There are many sucker plants growing adventitously from the parent plant.
Cooking Tips: Boil root, sweeten and drink.
Pharmaceutical Uses: Sassafras tea ysed as a diuretic and stimulant. Leaves and bark made into a tea and rubbed on the body may work as a mosquito repellant.
CAUTION : Sassafras oils might be Carcinogenic.
