It's a little late to be starting a garden.

Yeah, you can start a garden now! Especially if you buy things that are already started out in a green house. From seed, yeah, you may not get as much as you want, but go for it.
My garden is growing like mad, with all this rain, heat and humidity. I actually need to get out and weed it, but got a touch of heat stroke on Saturday and I was out of it for a few days.

Very interesting! I didn't know about the dog hair in the compost bin, but you bet I'll be doing that. With Strider, I'll get enough.
Speaking of composting, I'm very excited that I'll be able to start that up again soon. We're putting an offer in on a house today, and already we've talked about where the garden will be and where the compost bin is going, pretty much just off the back door which is by the kitchen...easy access in the winter time.
I have one of the stand up, black bin composters, but eventually I want the tumbler kind, as you can get compost in less than a month and it's much easier to stir up than the kind I have.
