I just read that Mantracker returns to OLN at 9:00, Monday June 9, 2008
Those of us who enjoy watching Mantracker for the scenery are in for something a little different this season. In the season opener, the prey will be tracked on the highways and golf courses of Deerhurst Resort in Muskoka! To those unfamiliar with Ontario, Muskoka is cottage country about 2 hours north of Canada's largest city, Toronto. Another episode will be on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Cape Breton has some of the best scenery east of the Rockies. Other episodes will be in Northern Alberta and Saskatchewan.

"Reality" shows like this never seem to die, do they? Laughing

Kind of like another show we all wish we weren't familiar with. Rolling Eyes

It is entertainment, I suppose. That is why we have tv's. Smile

Cheers. Cool

It would be interesting to see Bear as the prey on Mantracker. Whoever he's partnered with wouldn't be able to keep up with him. "Come on, the horses won't be able to follow us down there." "I don't care; I'm not jumping off a cliff into a raging mountain river!"

No he would be climbing waterfalls. Laughing

I'd like to see "Mantracker" track him up a waterfall. Twisted Evil Wink

The first episode - Al & Garfield at Deerhurst - was interesting largely because it was a little different. I figured they would get caught when I saw their very limited wilderness experience. Did anyone notice the major change from past seasons? Previously, the prey didn't know each other until being paired up just before the chase. This time the prey were old friends. They were from Jane & Finch, and although that's a pretty wild place in it's own way, it didn't prepare them for bushwacking. They did remarkably well, though, and with more bush experience, they could have won. They were in good condition for running, and the way they drew inspiration from their ancestors who travelled the Underground Railroad seem to work for them. But they still made the same mistakes that other prey have made: Although they didn't wear bright colours, they also didn't camouflage themselves as well as they could have. They stood upright looking around when Mantracker was near, instead of crouching down so they would be harder to see, and they gave away their position by talking too loud. Of course Mantracker is going to see their camermen and sound men anyways................

Yeah, that does seem to make it a tad easier. Laughing Rolling Eyes

That is the price we pay to be entertained, I suppose.

The episode from Cape Breton Island has aired. The prey got pretty close to the finish. They were dressed for success, wearing all camo and no bright colours, but they made mistakes that cost them the win. I think they would have succeeded if the guy had duct taped his cousin's mouth shut before they started.
What was that scene at the house about? Mantracker, couldn't you see the prey's camera crew through the windows? Laughing And why do the prey always sleep late? I would get up just before dawn and get a move on.

I think we've found a way to make Mantracker more exciting. Shocked

I watched another episode of Mantracker last night, and I've noticed a trend. Last night one of the prey set off a canister of bear spray in Mantracker's path. Her fellow prey had a bull whip he indicated he would use to keep Mantracker away from him if he closed in for the capture. In an earlier episode, a prey set up a trip wire that would have triggered a bear banger on a tree next to the trail, if Mantracker hadn't seen it in time. The prey are arming themselves. It makes me wonder just what the rules are. Are there no rules against adding these elements of danger to an already somewhat risky endeavor? Granted, I haven't done a lot of digging around, but I can't readily find any discussion boards dedicated to Mantracker. I guess either not so many people watch the show, or those who do are just not into it any more than we are. The Mantracker site has a Behind The Scenes page that is just photos of their cameramen. (I guess maybe that says enough. Laughing ) I came across on outdoor site that had a Mantracker thread. One of their members said he had been contacted about appearing on the show. The only nugget of info in his post, though, was that it takes 4 days of your time. Maybe the producers are encouraging the prey to be more aggresive to make the show more interesting. As long as they don't hurt the horses.

I doubt he has a following like Bear and Les, but yes, it appears they are trying to make things more interesting. Surprised

I doubt it works. Laughing
