Anoraks, Capotes, and other outdoor wear.

I thought I'd start this thread for folks to show off their home made or modified clothing. Not so much the mainstream manufactured stuff you bought.... but the custom hand made articles that either you purchased from a maker or designed/modified yourself.

Here is a Bushshirt I made from a wool army blanket. A lightwieght hoody to be worn on those chilly days and nights. (my daughter thinks I look like an Ogre in it)

I also made a cold weather Anorak but will wait until its complete before posting pics.... here is a drawing.

Biggest trouble I run into is finding ones that are 100% or near 100% wool for a reasonable price. I have found some, but am always looking for more options. Its amazing, wool is such a great fabric, yet there is no market in the US and sheep farmer have to throw out some of their wool because they can't sell it.

Seriously though, wool does itch(some worse than others, I'm sure), and another layer under that would be recommended. Cool

Any surplus stores here have few to no wool blankets. If there is one, its thin and well used & stinks like mold.
8 years ago when i went to my 2 fav army surplus stores they had boxes of wool blankets, $ 5.00 to $ 15.00 Cool

Nothing now ?. And i remember i had 2 dark grey heavy wool blankets, it was along time ago ... 10 years or so, and i have no idea what i did with them. Mad

I did see a really nice wool pull over hoody with a nice silk liner $ 135.00 im thinking on picking it up.
Nice earth tones, green.brown, it looks good. Maybe a summer sale will come up to dump all the winter wear Cool

get for $ 75.00 maybe.

wool takes some getting used to, but once you do, its not all that scratchy, I have two wool blankets, both I used all the time, with or without a shirt, doesnt bother me none Very Happy
