My digital still camera has good stereo sound in movie mode. And with a large memory card, you aren't limited to a brief clip. It might be worth considering by someone who doesn't want to lug 2 cameras around.

I like that camera. But i know i'll end up haveing a still camera & a Vid camera.
My still camera is small enufe its not a bother. The vid-cam's im looking at are about ? the size of that Canon camera you show here, alittle bigger, not much. Its been along time since ive looked at Vid-camera's....
They can pack alot of stuff into a small body, im impressed with the $ 600 to $ 800 range.
Though, it may end up being $ 1000 but its alot of camera for the money.
I now have a tri-pod so im good to go there

> New Hike i went on today, was only 5.5km but a cool area. This is the area i want to bring my Canoe into and spend 3 days or so paddleing around, camping on the shore lines. It was raining lightly when i reached the beach area, but it was muggy & warm, 19 degree's C. And !, i also had to Get into Les'es mind set, so this time i tryed some Survival food that Les tryed in the Alaska episode. Enjoy

Nice.
That looks a lot different from around here, looks better as a matter of fact. We don't have any hills like that around the lakes here, so that's real steap for us. Also our trees go right to the edge of the water, then there's usually thick muck. Looks like a beautiful place to stay.

^ lol, ya, it wasn't bad. Its kind of pop's when you bite it & theres water in it. You would think its really salty but its not bad salty. As far as eating alot on an empty stomach, it could give you a gut ache.
I would like to try them roasted in the ashes of a fire, get them alittle crispy.

Cool! You should swim over to that island. Is that water cold (mountain run off)?

Yeah I like that island a lot too. There's something about islands that make them so tempting to explore.

When the weather is hot i want to swim to it. It is deep, & tidal. So if i learn the tidal in that area it may get low enufe at a certain time that i could wade across It would be cool to get up on it and explore. might find some really cool things

Hey Dave do you carry your canoe on the roof of your car? I'm curious to know if you get it up there by yourself. Even my kayak's difficult, because I have to hold it with my arms extended, and at roof height. I have a very thin delicate roof, and I don't want dents so I don't roll it up there.

Yup Mystick, i load and unload my canoe by myself, i have too, there is no one around most of the time.
My old canoe weighs about 60lbs. Its not that bad really. I walk up on what ever side & face the front of the car, set the gunnel on the roof racks & slide it along to the other side. Its an older roof rack, heavy duty.
I made my own gunnel holders out of solid Mahogany, it sits in there real good, i have racheting strap's to hold her in place, solid like a rock You must be able to load & un-load your canoe/kayak by your self, cause your not always going to have someone around. Here is a pic.

That's pretty cool. I wish I had a nice rack for my car. I just use canoe blocks, and they work fine, but I have to do a balancing act just to get it on my roof. It's surprising how light your canoe is, I thought it would be more like 75 lbs. Does the rack stay on your car all the time, or do you take it off when you're not using it?

75lbs ! yikes, lol. Its only a 14ft fiberglass. A 15'.8" canoe weighs 67lbs. A 18' glass canoe is around 89lbs. Now thats the Clipper canoes i look at. A full cedar & cloth are heavyer. The rack i put on in late April & leave it on till October. Some time even November can have nice days, so it depends.
