One platinum and four gold albums. The highest rated show in the history of Canada's Outdoor
Life Network and the US Discovery Science Channel. Powerful concert performance with national
and international tours. Devoted fans worldwide anxiously awaiting the next episode. Confused
yet? Are we talking about a rock band or a TV star? What we are talking about is the fusion of both.
The Northern Pikes have been responsible for such top Canadian hits as Girl With a Problem,
Teenland, Things We Do For Money and the iconic She Ain't Pretty. Les Stroud made television history
when he created Survivorman. Early in the days of Survivorman's presence on television screens
across Canada, The United States, United Kingdom, Africa, Europe, France, Spain, Italy and onwards,
Jay Semko convinced his band mate Bryan Potvin to check out the show. Bryan was impressed enough
to look up Les Stroud on the web. There he discovered that more lurked beneath the surface of this TV
cult hero. He was a songwriter and performing musician. Les Stroud sat alone in his edit suite answering
some viewer emails when Bryan's came through. The modesty of Bryan's comments "I've got a band
and we play some gigs" caught Stroud by surprise. "Are you kidding me? of course I know who the
Northern Pikes are!" And with that the blending of two creative entities began; The Northern Pikes and
Survivorman. From the first haunting notes of We Crawl to Stroud's well known prowess on the blues
harmonica during Nice Tattoo, audiences were treated the summer of 2006 to a sneak preview to what
was about to become Les Stroud and The Pikes.
