This was a gift from a close friend for no reason other than being a good person. It is essentially a metal (i think aluminum, gonna double check tho) water bottle that has an outer holding unit of the same metal. It has a belt loup on the outer holder so that you can drink from it without removing your belt. To keep it in place there is a lether strap connected to the bottle that clips onto a hook on the holder. The beauty of this is that the outer shell has the same volume as 5/6th of the whole bottle. This means that you can fill that resevoir with water and put it over a fire to boil, then pour it into the steel bottle. The top is a "leakproof" screw top. After playing with my new gift (which retails at the radical edge store for 39.95 btw) i realised that it fits loosely into the holding section (the silver part in the pictures) This led me to think that i could fill the space (about half a cm in the bottom and a bit around the sides) with cotton which could be later used as dry tinder. I am fortunate to have such thoughtufl friends. Comments are greatly appriciated!!! Here's the pics:

after reading their website it says you shouldnt boil water in them as it damages the outer coating... i'm gonna email them and see if that is a factor in this one as the thing i'd be boiling it in is seperate from the actual bottle...

I'd have to agree with you on that one. I think it would be fine to use the outer cup for boiling. Smile The inside bottle does have a thick black coating, and the outside one is just plain metal. If it's not aluminum, I'd say it's stainless steel too. Cool
