GPS quirk |
|
The other day I turned my GPS on and searched through my waypoints. Hmm, that's strange there's about 5 new waypoints. They were names GARMIN and other things starting with GRM. It turns out that they were all the Garmin headquarters. I don't want them. I deleted them all, but does anyone know that Garmin can do that? I thought that was soo strange.

When you first use a GPS it already has waypoints in it(headquarters of the company usually).
Kind of like the craplets on a new computer.
It's nothing to be alarmed about. They're not modifying your GPS.

I'm pretty sure they just appeared. I didn't have those before. It's kind of annoying because I just found another one in Asia labeled 001. That's bad because I used to have a waypoint named 001.

Hmmm...that is a little weird. Maybe you should contact Garmin's customer service and ask them.
I remember helping my aunt set up her GPS, and there was like 5 waypoints already in it. Headquarters, stuff like that. I deleted them and all was well.
Yours shouldn't be doing that.

I don't know if they did an update or what? I just changed my batteries before that too. Strange.

It may have reset or something. Modern GPS's are supposed to have permanent memory. Taking out the batteries will only reset the time until it picks up a satellite. With older ones, you have to hurry to change the batteries or you lose all your saved information.
Call Garmin and see what they say.
