Don't feel so bad Dave, there was time elapsed in there. Wink Have you made a bowdrill fire yet?

Talk about roughing it out there with that first shelter. A refrigerator. Confused

Remember, when you see smoke that's your cue to keep going harder. Also be sure to have tinder that is very fine or it wont ignite. I was using jute cord ratted up and it wouldn't light. I did that with about 2 coals from the bow drill. I then ground it on the concrete and it light fine. You know you have a coal when there's a pile of punk that's stuck together and it smokes after you stop drilling.

Haha that is an awesome vid. I have been in that mandan with the "fridge" in it. Two of the "instructors" were actually caretakers, something completely different. The fridge is there for occasional treats, but they really do live pretty basic life while in the caretaker program. When the trackerschool moves to one of its other locales, they stay and have to put their skills to the test, hunting and gathering, living off the land. That Bowdrill was elapsed, but she is still really good at it, Tawny was the one who demonstrated fire at my standard and she can get the fire going fast. Seeing those familiar faces brings back memories and seeing the land makes me want to go back. Life is so much simpler there...oh and at that point where you see the swimhole with the docks and the log across it, that was dug by Tom, Rick and Stalking Wolf by hand...took them a few weeks of work to do it, but that is a wonderful place and I support it 100%

All well said Brian. Cool Cheers man.
I notice your avatar is not working ? just an outline of where the pic should be & a box with a red X in it.

That's awesome Brian. I didn't know you went there. Razz If I go in the Air Force they'll pay for my college, so I might go for wilderness survival. If I don't I think I could pay for a survival school like that with the GI Bill.

Tracker School is currently working on getting some scholarship programs running to help those who cannot afford the full tuition price, but it is a rather lengthy process from my understanding.

I wasn't aware my avatar didn't work, I can still see it...hmmm

I know at school whatever web hosting sites they block you can't see any images from, like imageshack. I use picoodle, and it's not blocked at school so I can only see my avatar there. Very Happy
