Looks good, NH.
I've done a fair share of making walking sticks, and I love it.
The last one I made was out of hickory.

Well these are my Hiking sticks ive collected over time.
Today i was out on the hunt for a new one & i found this cool twisted maple i had to have it.
The one on the left is the new maple i got today. The second one is Birch, third is Hazel, the far right is one ive had for almost 8 years its Alder. I like to do something custom to them.
The second one looks like Gandolfs Staff, so thats what its called. I put some leather around it.
Ans the Hazel one i used a full boot lace rapped & tied. It serves as a FireBow string.
Some i leave the bark on, some i dont. Depends. Ive never used a sealer or anything & they never cracked or checked. Im always on the look out for a cool Walking stick

Lol, i dont know yet ?... i keep going out to the garage and looking at it .... i do that often before i make something. Leave it on ?.... take it off ? ........ i'll let it dry up a bit 3 or 4 days then figure it out.
It was on the same hike ive gone on 10 times i stopped for a drink of water .... looked left looked right & there it was. I walked past it many times. That whole cant see the forest through the trees thing i guess.

Another cool thing to look for out and about inthe woods is look for a nice forked stick to make a sling shot
Ive yet to do that myself. But another thing to keep in mind if looking for a project/craft to make.
