Leather Help |
|
Does anyone know anything I can cover my leather bag that I made with? Maybe not to waterproof it necisarily, but to make it look neater as this leather if it is even touched it shows a mark. Is there anything to coat it with? Or color it differently.

It looks like you have a soft pouch type leather. That stuff does take marks easy.
Theres really nothing you can put on it to stop marking it really.
You could use Beeswax to help seal it & protect it. Thats what i use on my leather projects.
The company is called { Claphams } but there are many companys that make a Beeswax type sealer/protector.
You could dye it as well another darker color, but it still would show markings.

What could I use to dye it and how would I do so?

you can get beeswax at crappy tire aka canadian tire near the hunting and shoe part of the store.
im not sure if this will work good or not or make the bag to stiff but what if you mixed up some pitch and put it on your bag it would make your bag a bit stiffer i would think and stop it from marking so easy. does anyone else agree or no? its just a thought

Well, i think the pitch would be pretty hard to work onto the leather & it would take alot of pitch.
It could wreak the leather. IMO it would make the leather to hard after it set. If you mixed the pitch with charcoal
It would help, but i think you mite want to try it first on a scap piece first.
> you can buy leather dyes at craft stores. Or if there is a leather shop around you, they will no-doubt have it.

Buy some Sno-Seal.
It will knock the knap down and it won't mark anymore.
It'll also waterproof it.
Here's a review for it.
