You're right. Smile

It would probably serve a better purpose in a small cabin. Cool

Cheers. Cool

Since this thread is about catfishing I'll tell about my experience. This was my first fish I ever cleaned. It was kind of hard to cut around his spine area, but I got his head off, and gutted him. Next I cut a flap of skin by his tail, then I took one pliers and clamped it on his tail fin rays, and another pliers and pulled his skin off. After that you just cut above the ribcage over the cut area, and cut on top of the spine. Do that to the other side and you have two fillets. I didn't get everything, but it was pretty good for my first try. Very Happy

Yeah, filleting is pretty interesting. Cool

Good job on your first try. Very Happy

I've watched my dad do it all my life, so it's nothing new to me.

When he does it on bass, he uses an electric knife and starts behind the head, cutting straight down, all the way to the spine.(head pointed left) Then he cuts the fillet, with the blade right next to the spine, going towards the tail. Most of the time the fillet stays attached to the fish(you'll see why in a second). He flops the fillet over to the right(skin down, meat up), starts at the tail and cuts the meat off the skin. The fillet staying attached to the tail makes that part much easier. Now you should see one half of the fish missing and its skin hanging off(the narrow part still attached to the tail). Then he flips it over and does the exact same thing on the other side.

It's simple really, but it takes practice to master. Cool

The most interesting part is seeing what is in their stomachs. Shocked

I doubt you could use the same technique on a catfish, but that's how my dad likes to do it. Very Happy

Drat, now I'm hungry for catfish and bass. Evil or Very Mad Crying or Very sad Twisted Evil
