 My First Shelter |

its not done yet but its coming along  its taking along time cuz the area i am in doesnt have much for building a shelter with and i dont want to kill a bunch of trees to make it so i am using dead trees and stuff i come across on the ground. but i think it will be pretty good when im done. i have spent prob 4 hours working on it and building up the camp area around it as well.

Man thats pretty cool, its good to make one that has enough space to be comfotable, its great for moral. A small cramped shelter can be torture.

ya i have more than enough room in it and i even have a little place to kee a small fire as well but i still have to add alot to the outside cuz if it were to rain it still wouldnt be water proof yet i have to get more branches from spruce trees

New pics from today i put more pine branches on for the roof and sides still needs more though lol
in this next pic you can see a fence i started building as well it will help reflect the heat back toward the shelter
not to bad for my first shelter i think i have learnt lots from everyone here thanks guys

Have you thought about packing all that wonderful snow onto your spruce bow roof and making a wall to close off the one side? which direction does the door face? From the pics, it looks like the East... which is good... I would move the fire and reflector wall closer. Avoid burning pine if you will be exposed to smoke on a regular basis.... looks like those are spruce trees so you're okay.

Shelter looks good, definitely can see progress made in each picture and that you should have a livable structure and something to definitely be proud of in no time

here is me out at my shelter today. my shelter is in the back ground and im boiling water on the hot coals of my larger fire camp fire.if you look by MY left boot you can see where i had a smaller fire closer to my shelter to keep it a bit warmer in there. the bottle that i boiled the water in is strung up on a tripod.if you look really close by my left arm you can see some tools hanging off the tripod lol
