Post My Intarsia!! Reply with quote
Ok an intarsia is a wood hanging. just like a painting but it's made out of wood. I have finished this project (I am sooooooo exited). All I have to do is put a metal wall hanging thing on the back. I'm sorry I didn’t take pics. Teachers don't like that.
I did the entire thing my self. I even made the design my self (I couldn’t find one I liked on the intent). here is a site with some good designs. http://www.intarsia.com/Judy%20G.%20Reg.%20Intarsia%20p1%20.html

I’ll tell you how I did it.

First I looked at the different intarsia online to see how I wanted my own design. and bought a design to see how to make one.

Then I drew my design on paper. I put the paper on a digital projector and drew the design on a large clear peace of paper.

I grabbed some carbon paper and traced my design on the wood. I traced each peace separately so the grain on each peace went a different way.

After I cut the peaces out, using a scroll saw, I sanded down the edges on all of the peaces.

I next fond what stains I wanted to use and applied them to the wood.

Using wood glue I put the peaces where I wanted them.

And lastly I put two coats of lacer on, to give it a nice shine.

I’ll get a pic up soon. and thats my up date. sorry its pretty late: oops:
Very Happy

I worked on it for 45 min. a day for 5 days a week in 2 or 2 1/2 months. I really dont know to tell you the truth. but the longest part was the cutting and the sanding. sorry guys I dont think I will be able to do another one Sad . this class was only a semester and I dont have any of the right tools to do it at home. but I'm glad that my first one came out so nicely. thanks guys Very Happy
