The SAS Survival Guide contains a warning to never drink it unless it has been distilled. The risk factor is probably something that varies quite a bit from person to person, and from time to time. People have drank urine in survival situations (and otherwise) and been okay. But it's likely not worth the risk except as an absolute last resort. To drink when you're not able to distill it might seem to make sense as an act of desperation when you have no other source of water. But think about it: if you have been able to find nothing to drink, how much urine are you going to be able to produce?

I have heard for numerous reasons to avoid drinking your own urine unless its an absolute last resort, and at that, it isnt necessarily worth the risk. It depends on your health, how hydrated you were prior to urinating and numerous factors. My advice, unless you are going to die if you don't, don't risk it

If you're in dire need of a drink, you are already dehydrated and in my opinion your urine is no longer safe to drink. Smile

Unless I was drinking loads of water and peeing myself silly and just had an inclination to do it.....then no. Cool

It is, because you are adding all the toxins they remove back into the body in higher concentrations. Definitely not a good thing. It will kill you if done a lot or with concentrated enough urine, that is why it is not a good idea

Right. Smile

It's not one of those things that would save you in life-or-death scenarios. Just stupid nonsense. Confused

At most, it may prolong your life a few hours, but yeah its not going to save you really I would imagine, unless you need JUST that much more time to get to safety and a fresh supply of water. Oh yeah if for some reason you ever decided to do this, drink LOTS of water when you can because you need to dilute those toxins as fast as possible to minimize the effects
