Which was the most effective shelter?

Which shelter did you believe was the best in season 1?

Personally I said canyonlands under the tree. That shelter had a nice fire that went the lenght of his body so he would be warm. His roof coverd him from water and could keep some heat in. Also since it was under a tree it wouldnt get that moist and would be warmer at night. Once he coverd it over it was very good, too bad he had to leave.

I said Ep.1 - A-Frame like shelter, under the fallen tree. This would most likely be the type that I would attempt to build should I be lost in my neck of the woods. You can build them up to be fairly dry and get fire close to keep them a little warmer than, lets say, a lean-to. I haven't watch'd the episodes in a little time thoe, i'l reply here again after watch'n a few episodes tonight.

I thought the Blanket made of grass was the best make shift idea.
It could be a blanket or a mattress. I juts thought it was one of better idea's.

I think the camera pod one, i mean it was nearly airtight with the space blanket packed with sand and his jacket on the door. I think it would be the most comfortable/ effective

yea but it was built dangerously close to the river. had there been another days worth of rain it may have flooded out.

There are some great shelters he made, and there are some not so great shelters.

It was a toughie between the A Frame and the Tripod.

But I went with Tripod, As I'm a photographer.

I loved the tri-pod lean to because not only was in "warm" and filming was easy but it was also the most simple, besides the ones that he just lays beside a fire or a mattress. All of the shelters are great though , it must be hard not eating for up to 4 days and still have to run cameras and survive, ie. build shelters, find/hunt food, and talk to us along the way, SURVIVORMAN PWNS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, I'm going against the crowd, lol, and picking the plane.

Not the 'best' or most glamorous shelter, by any means... but my reasoning is this...

I think under the conditions he was in, the plane was the most effective and most calorie-efficient (for Les's physical exertion) shelter, for preventing exposure and hypothermia. Extreme cold and wind, and the plane kept him alive with a minimal amount of caloric-effort to rig it as a shelter, especially compared with other possible shelters.

So, I think it was the most effective and efficient shelter.

The tripod shelter looked the most effective to me. Small space to heat=warmth.

Well i'm not sure how well it would work but I know the Thermal blankets work great. The one he used was an emergency blanket and i've never tried oen before, but when I used the thermal blanket beside a fire it was super warm inside.

Good observation gear, we havnt talked about the duration it takes to set up a shelter. Good quick shelter. Cool
