I'm going to get the Viper Hydration Pack by Camelbak, and put my gear in a fanny pack.
That way if I don't need my gear I can still have some hydration.

http://www.uscav.com/Productinfo.aspx?productID=9626&TabID=548 This is the pack I have and love it! There are clips for sleeping bags/pads.

Looks nice. Are you sure it can fit both a sleeping bag and pad at the same time?

It should be able to, one may have to be lowered or extra carbiners may need to be added lower but It would work!

Looks good, Colt.
I did get the Camelbak Viper, and the fanny pack was great, but they didn't work together.
I sent the fanny pack back and kept the Viper.
I now have the Camelbak Ranger for my longer trips.

I use a kelty pack it has a built in fanny pack (removable) after I tweaked it it weighs just under 5 lbs I can haul up to about 60 lbs in it quite easily yet I seldom have more then 40 even for two week trips and is usually closer to 25-30lbs, also have a day pack with bladder for goin real light it packed with my gear never weighs more then 20 lbs including a full bladder. and food . Most my trips are done with it as I have come to appreciate and learn that knowledge weighs little and I'd rather carry that then 60 lbs of gear on my back lol,, for day hikes I carry a fanny pack and canteen it contains all I need for an unexpected overnighter .

This is my backpack.
CamelBak Ranger Hydration Pack: 100 oz.(3L) water, 1800 cu. in. cargo space
I got a new Cabela's catalog, and they have changed the Camelbak Hunting packs(Ranger included). Made them a little more stream-lined, but otherwise they are the same.

Camelbacks sure are great. Boy I'd be using nalgenes and a backpack if it weren't for camelbacks. They're so easy to use.
About my backpack weight, well I did add some non essensials in that time, but food was the biggest weight problem. MRE's are heavy, but they're really good, and have tons of food in them.

**EDIT**
As it turns out, they added insulation on the drinking tubes. Mine didn't come with insulation.

my tubes aren't insulated, but if you want to keep the stuff in the hose cold blow it back in the bladder. Or just lift the nozzle up higher than the bladder and pinch it open. Stays nice and cold, no more hot water.

Yeah, that's what I do after I get a drink.
The insulation doesn't really keep the water in the tube colder, anyway. In fact, in sunlight, it heats up faster because the insulation is black.

Camelbaks are affordable. Just go to your local outfiter or sporting goods store and you'll see plenty. Mine's smaller but it does have a backpack part. Some just have the bladder and that's it. In fact my camping backpack can take a camelbak bladder if you want.
