I have read this book many times from cover to cover, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in the outdoors.

Excerpt from Amazon.com :

This how-to, user-friendly guide teaches self-sufficiency-covering all of life's essentials: shelter; alternative energy sources; growing and preserving food; home crafts; directions for making herbal remedies; and even home-grown entertainment.

Very Happy

Hey, I didn't see this thread. I was browsing through Amazon for books like this to put on the list, and with 50+ 5 Star reviews, I had a copy for $10 on eBay a few days later. It looks like an excellent resource. I'll post some more thoughts when I get it.
