TURD.......That is very similar to a Buntline Hitch
But yours is just a little different. Your tail end is in the 2nd loop instead of the first.
I will have to try it out.
Thanks

I have a couple vids uploading to google. One is a rolling hitch, and the other is a sliding sheet bend. I use both when ever I make a shelter.

I personally must say I know nothing about knots but have started to learn about them more.
I used the "ultimate survival guide" (book) for knots right now. They have a lot of useful ones.
I'm still trying to find out what ray mears uses for his hammocks

A great knot to know how to do is Bowline. Not hard at all & has many uses.

Tautline is an excellent knot to know, although it doesn't work effectively with sleek plastic rope. It also can be used to tie rope up for shelters and such. It's like a backward slipknot in terms of function. You can "open" up the loop by pulling, but under tension, it doesn't slide back. You could tie a rope between two trees with some slack in it, then tighten it up by pulling on the knots and throw a tarp over it for quick shelter.

The reef knot is perhaps the most basic of them all. The figure 8 is simple and sometimes a part of more complex knots. The clove hitch is one of my favourites. If someone who doesn't know knots sees you tying a clove hitch, they'll tell you it can't possibly hold; you know better.
