I have seen a few commercials about a ManvsWild marathon Monday night on Discovery. Surprised It's not new episodes, just ones that are tweaked a little. Wink

I'm curious to see what they've done. Rolling Eyes

Ya, I see it starting at 7. Should be interesting to see the changes. I don't know how they could make the necessary changes and it still be the same show. I guess we'll see tonight.

"Time to make a shelter... I'm not staying the night, but this area would make a good place for a shelter."

And what about his locations? That trail in the high grass that he said was a rabbit was probably a freaking trail for sightseers and hikers. I'm still not convinced!

OOHHHHHH SNAP!!!!

"19th century rabbits were introduced to Scotland, and now there are 9.5million in the country and are an agricultural pest.. I didn't catch one overnight but I've got one here to show you what you can do with one if you catch one."

BAAAHAHAHAHAHHAHA.... I KNEW IT!! FISH, SNAKE, RABBITS, EVERYTHING HE EVER CAUGHT!!! FAKE!!!!

And this scene was truly edited... Before he was all like.. "OH I'VE GOT ONE!" And he'd chase it for a second, trap it, and then murder it.

FK BEAR!!!!

WHERES PETA WHEN YOU NEED THEM!?!??!

No surprise there. Rolling Eyes

DISCLAIMER
Bear Grylls and the crew receive support when
they are in potentially life threatening situations,
as required by health and safety regulations.

On some occasions, situations are presented to
Bear so he can demonstrate survival techniques.

Professional advice should always be sought
before entering any dangerous environment.

Some random quotes and thoughts:
"trout has been placed downstream"
agave plant wasn't in original episode
"with a little help from the crew, I've got 15 feet of rope"
you can tell when commentary is added
"Have you ever eaten beetle larvae?"
^was talking to cameraman, wasn't in original episode
he doesn't talk about being rescued at the end anymore like he did in original episodes
"I'll be receiving some help from local experts along the way, if needed."
while making shelter-"this process takes time, so I'll get some help from the crew"
he used a piece of burlap when starting fire
while crossing river-"local rangers helped make this as safe as we can"
much more commentary, less talking on camera
bear claw mark was totally fake
doesn't show him spending the night or breaking camp anymore
more-you should, you need to, you'll have to; instead of-I'm going to have to, etc..
"a camera crew will follow me, and if needed, local experts will be on hand to help"
"with the team's help I'm trying to make a ladder"

What I really want to see is Deserted Island, Sierra Nevadas, and Rocky Mountain. Rolling Eyes

Those are probably too hard to edit... and they will certainly leave first time viewers NOT wanting more.

i can honestly say hes a pig and i hope that just because he did this some people dont doubt Les's integrity.

I wish they would've taken his shows off the air because someone is gonna try one of the many stupid things he did on his show and get injured or killed.

Im glad there are honest people in the world like Les who can show us true survival and true reality television.

And that concludes my rant... Laughing

I've just recently seen 2 episodes (Everglades and Amazon) for the first time. A number of things strike me about Bear. Arrow He obviously has never heard the phrase "You sweat, you die." Most people would drop from exhaustion if they threw themselves at situations all day the way he appears to. Arrow He certainly seems to think that the way to make the show appealing is to make it entertaining to lowest common denominator viewers, and to sensationalize something that does not need to be sensationalized. Arrow Although there are some interesting survival techniques in each episode, there are also unnecessarily risky stunts (such as his river crossing techniques). Arrow He seems to enjoy grossing us out by eating disgusting things. (Why not cook those grubs!) Arrow He keeps saying he will get help from local residents when he can, but we never see him doing so. Is he afraid they will show him up?
I might keep watching for the scenery, like I do Mantracker, but if I'm going to be out, I sure won't bother setting my vcr.

I FINALLY found Man vs Wild on Discovery channel and I enjoy watching his show, I kind of just forget that his show is a fraud and the hour of Man vs Wild is as enjoyable as Survivorman is in my opinion....

BG is on the cover of OUTSIDE magazine. The article is interesting in that he just admits it is all entertainment and contrievance (it is television). There will be a 2nd season of Man vs Wild starting Nov 16th in United States on Discovery.

I still hate the man because he's no differnt to me, sorry guys but this guys an attention whore and cares about how he looks doing this than teaching you anything. Its my opinion this guy cant be comapred to Les, Ron Hood, or Ray Mears.

Ya he got his fan base back, unfortunally. His fan base consists of young kids who dont know survival (sorry to you people here, I know you guys are experiance here Smile )

When I had my stroud videos on youtube, I got tons of messages from people saying "Bear grylls is way better than everyone else" and it was just really lame.

No offense to those who read or subscribe to OUTSIDE, but thats one of the main reasons I will never buy or pick up an issue of that mag. They have basically become a Maxim for outdoors.. overlooking what really counts, for reader ratings. They don't really have a target audience.. just a target age. Do I sound like a hater yet? haha.
