Hello everyone.
I hope the holiday season was great for you. It’s been incredibly hard to get
the time to write this due to a fantastic overload of production
responsibilities.
Let me get to the most often asked question first: Yes – I intend on producing
another season of Survivorman! I am, as they say, in ‘renegotiations’ right
now with the networks. If all goes well, I’m thinking Australia, Alaska, the NW
Coast of BC, Labrador, Borneo and Africa.
Nothing is guaranteed in this business but let’s hope all goes well. I’ll be
sure to keep you up to date on the progress.
In the mean time Survivorman just became the highest rated show in The Science
Channel’s (US) history. It’s done so well in fact that now the main
Discovery Channel US is going to run half hour versions of the first season. It
also continues to get great ratings on OLN here in Canada.
If you haven’t already heard, the DVD set of the entire first season is
finally available for purchase through this web site.
Oh, and by the way – I indeed have been receiving all your wonderful emails
even though I haven’t had time to answer personally just yet. On a side note:
we had a computer glitch (well ok someone accidentally trashed the file) and I
lost the bunch of personal email I received and marked for answering. So if I
didn’t answer you – now you know why. I intend on getting to the forum
questions ASAP to make comments and answer what I can.
Currently I am in production on a number of things. First: a two hour special
called Stroud…Off The Grid about my families move to our 150 bush acres to
live without hydro; solar power, wind generator, rain harvesting that kind of
thing. It airs this spring in Canada on OLN and Discovery US is considering it
right now.
I am putting the finishing touches on a new CD that teams up me with Canadian
hit makers The Northern Pikes. We’ll release it this spring and follow it up
with a concert tour.
Explore magazine has decided to put a personality on it’s cover for the first
time ever. Yep, yours truly. It will be the March issue.
Discovery US has asked me to host two one hour specials – one about the new
Disney ride called Expedition Everest and another, on my suggestion, a special
about Urban Disaster Survival. Neither special has me committed yet….so
we’ll see.
The Science Channel US is currently considering a new series of mine called
Stroud’s Legends, which has me following in the footsteps of the world’s
greatest explorers. I’ll let you know how it turns out.
And finally, I quit coffee, sugar, dairy and alcohol over the holidays and
haven’t felt better. Maybe I’m ready now for a few more Survivorman
episodes!
Take care all and have a great 2006. I’ll answer a whole bunch of forum
questions as soon as I can.
Les
