New multi-day pack. The back has some space between the mesh and pack to store stuff like a camel back.

First aid and fire lighting material.

New cook set.

Some tools

Tent, sleeping bag and foot print.

Thanks DD... Going backpacking this weekend for labor day weekend, so I've got a few more things the check off the list. I can strap my tent onto the bottom of that pack, but I've got no where to put my sleeping bag. Any suggestions? I can probably tie it to my pack I guess.

Nice kit, Gerber tools are great aswell. Looks like an overall good kit, though I would add a little to the First aid kit. Some antibacterial swabs, cheese cloth, medical tape and gloves.

> Bob for the sleeping bag, if there is no room in the pack strap it to the top.
But put it in a garbage bag, even if it doesn't look like rain. You never know. Keeps dirt & crud of it as well. Cool

Thanks for the comments guys. Turd, my cookset is made of aluminum, so its really light. Also my sleeping bag DOES fit inside. So all I have to do now is go to giant and buy some freeze dried foods and I'll be set for the weekend.

Another update. Going to return my tent for a smaller 1-2 person tent. Also going to exchange my multi-day pack for a slightly bigger one with a sleeping bag compartment.

REI is the best btw.. I asked them about their return policy if the gear has been used, and they said.. "well how are you going to know if you like it, if you've never put it to use? Go ahead and bring it back in." Awesome.. I love those guys. The reason some of their items might be a little more expensive than elsewhere.. customer service, and the yearly dividend.. Very Happy

Yeah most of the time they take that gear and put it into their "rental" gear. I love REI, and don't have problems with their higher prices most of the time. But my "kind" isn't always welcomed in those kind of stores so I have to pull a covert operation to shop there.

I have a cabela's one man tent I got for $40 out of their bargin cave thing. It's pretty cool IMO! There is just enough room for you to sleep, put your pack in there, and sometimes a bow. Laughing

Your kind? That place is so laid back and easy going, they even let dogs into the store. Well the one by me at least.

I was in the worst need for some nylon webbing for a gun sling for an upcoming hunt and I remembered REI being a block away from where I was. I swung in there with camo pants on (we were litterally leaving right then) and a clean white t-shirt. I went to the webbing counter and waited. No one wanted to help me! Laughing When someone finnally came over I told them what I needed. He asked what I was going to use it for, so I told him. His eyes got really big, finnished up and walked away quickly. Confused Now I make sure I am more respectable when I go in there. Laughing
