This episode always makes me think: Here Les finally seems to get to eat well for seven days, yet this episode causes him to get sick for a year! Go figure! Granted, he probably would have gotten sick even if he starved himself for a week, but I always thought that this was a bit ironic...

Did he get the parasite from the turtle?

And if you cook the food better, can you kill the parasites?

Well, no one knows where he got it from. It's possible it wasn't even from anything he ate...

I think it could've been just about anything there...even the mud. That enviornment was just asking for him to catch something.

* You got that right Daffy, it's amazing how often we touch stuff & with out a thought may think, Oh my god ! it my carry a germ or parisite ! Shocked . About a month ago, i got a bad case of food poisioning. Im not going to name the GIANT fast food outlet that im pretty sure i got it from, but, when you go through the stages of food poisioning it's really ! a crappy deal, let me tell you. There are differant degress of food poisioning, mine was, lets say 1 out 10, it was a 8.5 . I spent almost 7 days going through the motion's. The creep factor for food poisioning in my mind has shot up 75 %. cross contamination, etc.
Its something im very aware of more so. Cool

Glad you made it past the Food Poisoning!!!

Can you imagine this: They trace back the parasite for Les - From the water to his hand. From his hand to his harmonica. From his harmonica to his mouth...

Yikes!!!!!!!

Honestly a swamp for me dosent seem to bad as long as I have fire and have at least a little piece of land with some useable wood on it.

I would just hate the bugs, being a canadian i've had to deal with every kind of fly that exists, its not fun.

Maybe Les got the parasite from the water vine(he said "there are ants in the water but thats ok its just more protein"). While that is true, who knows what else could have gotten into that water, it was just there in the open... right?

When I heard he caught a parasite, I figured it was from the Jungle/Beach episode when he drinks striaght from the stream and even says something like "I'm taking a big chance by not boiling this, I could catch a parasite or amoeba and be laid up in the hospital for months, but dehydration is a much more immediate danger," or something to that effect.

It could also be the time he fell in the water. I heard him spitting after that incident.
