A quick firestarting totorial with a mag bar. |
|
So here is some pieces of wood I just sawed up with the OH fireman.
I then made some shavings, sawed some mag dust and made some small pieces of wood.(you can see my first try to the right)
After that I light her up and her it is at first.
Then going for a bit,
And going good.
So, just making sure you have the right sized wood to get it going, I think there are three steps to fire wood, Shavings, Small pieces and then larger. After
that its Icing on the cake.

Great pics Fonly!
Just another idea for someone new to magsticks... when in doubt, start out learning using lint from a dryer.
It still amazes me how fast that cotton lint will fire-up. Then progress from there. Quick confidence builder.

Fonly, how well does the OH fireman make shaving and how hard is it with the serrated blade?

For me thats one of the reason I love serrations now, I can get shavings easier with the serrations. One reason I'm really waiting for the Nimravus. As to the OHT working, it works great. Though once in a while, when you want a more controled cut, the straight edge is the best, but for quick work the serrations really shine.
