Situation - Deserted Island |
|
You and a friend are taking a nice ride in your small private plane over the pacific ocean for a while, no one knows where you or your friend are, you see a storm ahead but think nothing of it because you have been in many storms before and this is no different, you think. Your tank is getting empty so you decide to cut right through the storm to get home faster. A couple minutes go by while flying in the storm and you realize that this storm is intense and life threatening so you panic and press some dials and buttons and end up with an empty tank and your going down fast, you watch the altitude drop before your eyes and so you quickly grab a life jacket and before you know it you are in the water with your plane. You think "Oh my gosh I'm alive" with a face that looks something like this while in the freezing pacific waters. You swim away from the burning wreckage and and realize that your friend is no where to be found but you see a life raft (similar to Les's raft in "Lost at sea episode") and realize that your friend had opened the raft, but he is not in it. You decide to climb in and you fall unconscious in the raft. When you awaken you are in the middle of the ocean on a raft, alone and in the distance you can just make out an island, about a two day drift until you can reach it. you take an inventory of your supplies and you find in the raft and in your pockets:
1 long sleeve cotton shirt
1 pair of cargo shorts
1 pair of sandals
1 bandanna
1 wet, used tissue
1 tooth pick
1 wedding ring
1 pack of gum with 4 pieces left
2 flares (wet)
1 pen
1 *edit* One knife of your choice that can go on your belt
(Talk about what you'd do on the island if you choose to reach them.) The island is like a jungle with no fresh water and two small beachs on the north and south side of the island. It also has a cliff near the middle of the jungle that is very big, if climbed possible to see the whole island. If you choose to reach the islands then on the 4th day on the island a metal door will wash up on the north beach. What do you do?
(If I missed something or made a mistake then please tell me

First, I would lay all the wet stuff out in the sun to dry.
Second, I would set about finding a source of fresh water. Jungles don't grow on trees; they need fresh water. It will rain sooner or later, so I'll work on a rain catchment system. (Maybe using the raft. If it can keep water out, it can keep water in.) If there are no streams or ponds, I'll try digging a well in a lush, low lying area away from the ocean.
The ring could be used as a fish lure if I can make a line from plant fibers and a hook from a thorn.
On each of the beaches I would lay out branches to spell "SOS". (Or maybe a rudely worded 'go away'; I might just want to stay there a while.)

Remember you are on the raft for a couple days before you can make your way to the island...So maybe if you do want the metal raft or just to make things easier you can put:
Day 1:
"I made the shelter out of this or that, and I made a water filter...."
Day 2:
"I spent a night on the beach and try to fish...."
etc.

On the raft, I think the first thing I would do is rig up some kind of sail - even if it's only the shirt - so I could get to the island faster if that's where the wind is blowng me, and to help steer the raft. Then I would set up a rain catchment system in case it rains while I'm on the raft.
