Fire starters/ items... |
|
After reading this thread, and wathching what Les has taught on Survivorman, which would be the 3 best fire-starters to put into a survival kit... 1 primary fire source, 2 redundant. I have no training in primitive skills (I will eventually), but I'd like advice on what to to include in now and practice on. I've seen so many different thoughts.
Thanks.

Hey Dobry nice to see you giving your 2 cents.
Thats a great question. However I dont know if i can fully answer it because it depends on the enviorment. Not all methods are effective in all conditions.
For example its nearly impossible to start a fire with a magnisum flint in super windy conditions. Or using a firebow when its raining. Therefore my answer isnt 100% accuruate, but i'll give you my favorite.
1 - Lighter of course in primary
2 - Swedish Fire steel - dosent require shaving and fairly easy to start a fire
3 - Fire Bow - Although I have not been successful with this method due to lack of time and practice, i have tried it and it seems the more simpler one then the handdrill.

1. butain lighter
2. fire steel or mag stick
3. fire bow
The butain lighter would just be a lugsiry item, the fire steel or mag stick would be somethign to deffinatly have, because it can be used when it is pouring rain out, and than finally the fire bow, because you can construct it while you are in the wilderness.

1) Lighter
2) Waterproof matches
3) Mag-Stick/Fire Steel
Firebow can be made, therefore i don't pack one. I still haven't tried the fire steel but i like my mag stick.
