I think they're worth the price.
I use my knives alot & I use them hard.
I guess they cost that much because they're quite a hunk of VG 10 steel , full convex grind & probably because folks are willing to pay that much for them Smile .
Fallknivens are very rugged blades with a great reputation. I have an F1 , S1 & an A1 & I've been very satisfied with all 3 of them.

If you have Full VG10 bladed Fallknivens, their really something to hold on too. Even though the laminated ones are nice, full VG10 is awsome.

Hey Barny:
It's weird that you mentioned the Buck Intrepid.
I just traded it away to my son for a Spyderco Native Very Happy .

He got the best of me price-wise this time, but I didn't use the Intrepid anymore & he got a case of the BIG EYES when he saw it,so I made him a deal on it for the Spydie.

I'll get more use out of the knife I'm getting from him & as soon as his eyes pop back into his head he'll get more use out of the Buck.

Two happy knife guys after this deal.

Hey Guys...

Cliff..

Personally I think you got the better of the deal...

As much as I like Kit Carson, respect him and his work, I don't like the Intrepid at all for an outdoors knife..

I had one for about 2 days before I traded it off for something..I couldn't get rid of it fast enough..

The knife had hot spots all over it,,and the top guard really dug into my hand...

I would have traded the Spydie for it as well...

I think it is the only knife of Kit's design that I wasn't absolutely impressed with...

Hey Eric:
Those were pretty much my impressions of the Intrepid too.
It's been sitting in a box for a couple of years because I just couldn't use it for anything.
I much prefer a plain edged blade without all of the gimmicks & goodies on it.
I guess I bought that one back in my "WOW look...a SURVIVAL knife" days. I was happy with it for awhile, but kinda got away from that type of blade.
My son likes it though,so we're both happy.
He's always getting good deals from dear old Dad!
He got a Becker CU7 from me...FREE.
An Al Mar SERE Operator from me for $ 45.00 ( I couldn't get used to that one either).
A Becker Patrol Machete & a RAT RTAK . $50.00 for both.
And some others that I can't remember right now.
He's been staring hard at my Scrapper 6 lately too. Guess I better get it cleaned up.
I guess Dads with knives are a good thing to have around sometimes!
