Class 1: Fast moving water with some riffles & small waves.

Class 2: Moderate waves, rocks, or other abstructions but with wide clear channels easily seen without
scouting. Some maneuvering may be required but a trained paddler easily avoids the bigger waves,
& obstructions. A swimmer is seldom injured & can usually do self-rescue although some assistance
can be helpful.

Class 3: Moderate, irregular waves that are difficult to avoid & which might swamp an open canoe.
Some complex maneuvering in the fast current & tight passages around rocks & ledges are often
required. Large waves or strainers may be present, but are easily avoided by trained paddlers.
Scouting is advisable for inexperienced parties. Serious injuries to swimmers are rare, but
self-rescue is often accomplished with some difficulty.

Class 4: Intence & powerful rapids. They require precise boat handling. There are unaviodable large waves,
holes, & constricted passages that demand fast maneuvers. Scouting is always advisable before
the first time down. Swimmers risk a moderate to high danger if injury, & self-rescue may
be diffacult. Outside assistance is often essential, but it requires practiced skills.

Class 5: These are long, obstructed, very violent rapids. There are big drops, large, unaviodable waves,
holes, & congested chutes that all demand precise boat control & high degree of personal physical
fitness. Swimmers are in real danger & outside rescue is often difficult even for the experts.

Class 6: These runs are almost never attempted. They are extremely unpredictable, difficult, & dangerous.
One mistake here can surley kill you Shocked

Same as Dave, Class 1/2. There is pretty much nil in terms of whitewater around my neck of the woods.
