The jaguar sounds were 100% sampled and fake, not really a big deal, but they were indeed fake.

OGTL,
Why do you sound so sure those sounds were put in there? I think it's possible but I just doubt Les would do that. I mean with all this stuff coming down about the "other guy" especially. And since Les produces his own show's does the music and everything it seem unlikely that it would be put in without his knowledge.
Jax,
Regarding why he didn't have a camera shot of it, well he was out urinating when he saw it and after his attempts to scare it, he went back to the hut and got his 2 cameras and 1 pack and the spear and jammed out of there. When he went in back to the hunt it could seem believable that the cat would hide and try waiting for a chance to pounce, plus Les wasn't thinking about taking a video of it once he got back to the camera, he was thinking about saving his hide.

Ok guys no offense but this is a dumb debate! There is a new episode and you guys are worrying about jag sounds? Whether fake or not who really cares? In the sonoran desert episode the moto bike has imput sounds, because when Les is riding it its a 4 stroke but suddenty the sound turns into a 2 stroke (Motocross bike fans would notice this).
But honestly, mabey they added some sounds, who knows but who cares really? Les was almost attacked by a jag and he didnt get it on camera so mabey they wanted to add some sounds at the end so that you could get into the "frightened" mood.
Just my 0.2 I thought it was good, not as good as the Kalahari (1 reason I hate jungles, 2 its clearly much harder and you can see he was really put to the test in this one.

watched it for the 4th time. my last input is going to be that we can agree to disagree on the sounds but the situation was entirely realistic. you can see in his eyes the fear so i hope we can all agree that there really was a jaguar.

Well, personally one of the things I like about this show is how Les strive to keep it real. I use his show as an example of what "Reality TV" should be. I would be let down to find out sounds were being added for dramatic effect. Sound tracks I don't mind, they help set a mood but to change the content of the show would take away from the reality part of it.
I for one have no reason to believe that it wasn't real and will continue to believe it happened as shown.
Great show, one of his best. Makes me want to stay away from the Amazon.

Haven't these first two episodes really conveyed how it must have been to be there?
Just like a lot of others here I wanted to give Les some water when he was suffering heat stroke in the Kalahari. And all those bugs always around him in the Amazon was annoying me.
I think so far this season they've done a really good job of conveying how Les must have felt.

I agree this season is much more emotional on how one feels in a survival sitation rather than what one should do or how to do it. Which is great because thats very hard to get accross in a accurate manner.

Yeah i noticed that. I'm with you guys on this new part of the show that opens ep the viewers eyes to the emotional and mental aspect of survival.
I dunno about you but I'm really pumped up to watch the Labrador episode this Friday. I think it's gonna be as good as the Amazon if not better. (just because Les thrives in the snow and he has a bunch of dogs!!!)

Labrador is going to be awesome, the episode is suppose to be really good. And apprently something happens in it that shows how real this show is in reaction to the Bear Grylls incient. It shows people who think the show is fake is real. Well at least thats what i'm told

A little inside information there Trooper?
It's hard to believe he could top these first two episodes. I'll be very happy if he matches them.
Can hardly wait to see

i am so glad i didn't read all that stuff before
As for episode 2, gotta say it is defonatly in my top 3 episodes now. I think it was cool that he used the mya dust (i know i spell'd that wrong) and I like how he got wierded out when hand fishing and switched to fishing with a line. I was wondering, though, why he didn't use the spear to fish?
