The Hobo Stove |
|
I made this "Hobo Stove" out of a empty Coleman naphtha can, and a pair of tin snips.
First, cut off the end of the can that has the spout on it. Next, cut down the middle of the can all of the way to the back. Cut along the edge of the end, stopping on the edge. Bend the flaps upwards, and fold over a half inch on top to support a grill. Fold over the edges on the can to keep the edges smooth.
Great to carry in places where fires are unpractical, and in the canoe. Environmentally friendly. Just scatter the ashes when you're done.

Well, a 10lb weight on the grill and it still holds up, but it's not advisable to put that much weight on it.I've only boiled water with it so far, only takes a minute or two.

I would rather know something about 50 things then only know everything about 1.

So have you been using it at all? you said it boils fast, any problems keeping the flames going in windy situations? That seems to be my biggest problem with the mini halcon stoves and my home made Pop Can Candles

I've used it a couple times in the canoe. No problem in windy situations, because it's protected from three sides. Might not go to well in a hurricane, but you know what I mean.
