thanks, turd. are these lures sold specifically online, or do they also get carried in department stores?

Well, that depends on what you're fishing for dear.
I assume Bass?
My favorite is a white fluke on a #3 Eagle Claw hook. I've got a silver minnow popper that does real well, too. And the dusk and dawn staple is gotta be the HoolaPopper. Most of the ponds I fish in are pretty mossy, so I don't have much luck with spinners and I don't think I've ever even caught a fish on a tube worm.

Here's my two favorite top water lures. I don't think these are the exact brand, but pretty close.

For stream and river trout, give Panter Martins spinners a try. They can be deadly.
Various Mepps/ Mepps Aglia, sizes #0, #00, #1 and #2 are in my ammo box for most trips.

And my favorite, my secret weapons, are the Kastmasters. This little gems are deadly on stream and river trout.

I always carry a bunch with me.

If you want some quick panfish/bluegill catches, "poppers" usually work very well. Or tie a small "woolly bugger" (type of fly) or a marabou jig on your line and cast that out a few feet... bluegill, suns, and perch will often strike them. Maribous can be devastating with trout also.

For jigs, I'd go with Marabous, they're great all-around jigs... white ones, black ones, and yellow ones for good measure.

Try to check with a local bait shop where you're fishing. They can usually tell you what's working and what's not. Needs to be a bait shop though... not Wal-Mart or sporting goods depts.

I've had good results with the "super duper". It is pretty crude looking but it works pretty good from time to time.

Quote:
The simple, but effective, U-shape design of the Super Duper creates an incredible wobbling action that draws strikes from trout in a variety of water conditions. The unique shape also makes it extremely castable. Corrosion-resistant finishes ensure these lures will maintain their rightful place in the top trays of your tackle box year after year. Per each.
Sizes: 1/6 oz., 1/10 oz., 1/12 oz.
Colors: (055)Brass/Red Head, (104)Nickel/Red Head, (153)Chrome/Blue Prism, (205)Chartreuse/Fire Dot, (315)Hot Rainbow, (330)Brown Trout, (353)Rainbow Trout, (501)Brass/Gold Prism Lite, (503)Chrome/Silver Prism Lite, (582)Lime Green/Prism.

The Blue Fox Vibrax silver #4 is the BEST lure, for any type of coldwater fish. HIGHLY recommended. Coming from a guy with a 60 pound tackle box
