Post What do you hunt? Reply with quote
Me personally I mainly hunt rabbits, grouse, ducks and geese. I haven't hunted deer in a few years due to the low population of deer. I would hunt bear but I just haven't yet, no real reason other then that! I want to hunt moose but I haven't been pick'd in the draw yet. So what do yall hunt? and how long have you hunted? October 1st marks my 14th year!

Deer and turkey, sometimes those wascally wabbits... I like duck and goose hunting, but I don't care for the taste of either. Instead of hunting something I won't eat, I just concentrate on the ones I find to be tasty...

Good stuff Northern, I own a piece of land in the boreal forest and I msut say that overtime i've been noticing more deer poping up. There are a lot more deer signs, tracks, poop etc. Have you noticed more deeer up in Alberta? There seems to be an abundance of them here in Ontario

Yep well said. Thats why hunting is important and I encorage it here on the forum and have a section for it. I rather a deer be used to sustain a person than be taken out by a Chevy.

here in cape breton there are not many deer at all, i actually stopped hunting deer about 6 years ago simply because they are so few and far between. On the mainland of Nova Scotia it is a different story though. They have all the deer but we have all the Moose. To hunt moose here you have to win your tag in a draw. I haven't been lucky enough to win one yet but when I do it will be great!

Hey Guys...

My favorite hunting by far is Black bear....

Theres just something about hunting bears that just does it for me...

Part of bear hunting is seeing the big black animal come out of that green forest...

Heres a couple of pics from last years hunt....

The BIG bear (475lbs) was taken by my partner Jeff with a 300 WSM, literally a 3 minute drive from the town limits of Haliburton in Central Ont (2 hours N.E. of Toronto)

The small bear (160lbs) was taken by me, with an Excalibur Exocet Crossbow, about 1/2 mile from where this bear was taken, as the crow flys...

In the picture with the three guys,, I'm on the left, Jeff in the middle and our camera man Greg on the right..

Heres a couple of recent kills....

These bad boys, were running back and forth across the plastic on the ceiling in my shop,, so I put on a movie and waited them out...,,

2 shots,, two dead mice with a Russin .177 cal pellet pistol..
One of the pellets actually went through the mouse,, his a joist and hit me in the arm...

I also enjoy hunting rabbits, and coyote....

ttyle

I don't hunt as much as I used to. Now it's only quail. Love eating them lil' buggers, yummy.

And I like to "hunt" sporting clays, and enjoy range shooting.

Mainly I just fly-fish these days.
