There are many different kinds of scopes to put onto a pistol. You have your magnification scopes (like a rifle scope) to hunt with, or so you can accuratly shoot long distance. Then you have your holographical/red dot scopes. They can magnify a little bit (ussually like 3X or 4X at the most) but many have no magnification at all. The reason behind these are that you put the dot on target and pull the trigger. You can shoot with both eyes open with the red dots that have no magnification very accuratly, and still be aware of your suroundings. A lot of your "race guns" (1911s a lot of times, W00t!) will have some kind of 1x or 2x red dots.
