I had to say the rockies cause, like Dave, there's a certain familiarity to it. I haven't spent that much time in the rockies per se, but I've been in the BC coastal mountains plenty so the climate, flora, and fauna are quite familiar. I'm also very fond of the canyonlands and the swamp episodes though.

I think the canyonlands would be very tough. No water is brutal, I dont know if I could last long there in general. its all rock, hot, then freezing.

I actually would like to survive in the canyon lands. I looked great but the lack of water is really a bad thing. Although there was a giant pool of water that was a half a hour walk from his camp.
1: Costa Rica
2: Mountain (BC!!!!!!!!)
3: Georgian swamp

Number one for me is definitely the Boreal Forest episode, something about it, I can watch it over and over. Second would be the Rocky Mountain episode.

I have to echo the Rocky Mountains as that is very familier territory for me as well, although the mountains here aren't as wet.
The boreal forest is good as it has some of the best survival work as far as I am concerned with building a fire after being soaked in the water and the poor weather. Over the April 19-20 weekend we got another 8-10 inches of snow in the valleys and nearly 2 feet in the mountains so working while wet and cold is something I do a lot.
3rd place has to be the Sonoran Desert. Some of it, like the prickly pears and juniper closely mirrors conditions on the prairies.
Most of the shows are really good, some better than others as I did not especially like the Amazon segment, but that is just personal taste.

I agree with all your points. (just arctic is my favorite).
I least enjoyed the amazon from all the shows done
