Getting a GPS |
|
I'm going to get a GPS. Some of my friends have agreed to help me buy it as a Christmas present, so money isn't to big of an issue. I made a list of my wants and needs for GPS. If any one here is a GPS guru, do me a favorite and look through this list, and help me pick a good one:
Needs:
-I am an EMT, and one of the main purposes for getting
a GPS is to help at work. I need a GPS that is great
at finding addresses in some of the most rural of
locations in the US. Of course, I would like it to get
great in the city, too, but I assume that would be
automatic.
-I need this very same GPS to be good for back country
expeditions, one I can use when I'm on the
river, or in the mountains.
-Color screen. I've had a little experience with GPS,
and I find, the color screens to just be exponentially
easier to read, especially when I'm driving at night,
and I need to take a short glance to find locations.
Wants:
-I want one with a large memory. I have heard people
complain about how it sucks that they can only hold a
part of the country, and they have to delete it and
download a different part every time they take a trip.
I don't need to hold the whole world in my GPS, but I
would like the US, and some of Mexico and Canada, if I
could.
-I want it to be good for Geocaching and dashing, and
all the other GPS related games.

I'm no guru, but Garmin is a good choice.

The etrex legend has back light which makes it more than easy to read.
