Post Be careful with your cameras. Reply with quote
Well, this past weekend I was out canoeing on a large lake, and I stopped on some rocks to climb a clay cliff about 30 feet high. When I got back into the boat, I slipped on the rocks and fell into the water. My Sony camcorder was on a tripod over my shoulder, and was submerged in the lake for a second. Because of my careless mistake I'm out $300 dollars (got it from eBay, reg $650) and have 3 hours of wildlife footage I can't access. The camera is completely ruined and won't respond to anything I do to it. Sad

OGTL,
Is it digital or tape... because the water shouldn't have affected the memory stick or cassette tape. Unless it one of those plug in and download types... then I'm lost. What a shame... I feel for you... snif, snif.

It was a Sony DVD-203, digital camcorder.

I let it dry for a couple days, nothing.

Yeah! Just be careful. I'm going to be once I get my new one, I've decided on a Sony DCR-SR82, with a 60GB hard drive. I'm done with those little half hour DVD's, too much hassle.

Sorry, its done my friend. Just the slightest bit of moisture will do it.

Indeed, My sister dropped her camera in a toilet once, and it still takes pictures, but the lens is forever screwed.

Ahhh crappy OGTL. I have my digi camera with me all teh time.
I was on the river fishing & i slipped on a rock and dunked my camera for about 5 seconds.
I right away took the batteries out & mem stick, let it sun dry for an hour.
Took it home, let it dry out for another 3 days. And i lucked out, i put batteries back in & mem stick
fired it up & it works Very Happy .
I hope you find a great deal on another digi cam. Cool Chin up

If I had a external DVD drive I'd be all set, but my laptop has a slot drive, so the 3" DVD's are a no go. Sad
