Where'd you come up with 77%?
Is that the pouch it stays in?

I have a couple of the ones like FF9 uses. I bought them six months apart and from different stores *just in case* there was a bad batch. I've had to pull them out and use them both after three of my GPS units failed in one night! I was seriously considering staying the night out in the field, but the guy I was with was dead set on walking out. So against my better judgment we started walking aimlessly in the dark for over five hours, and ended up covering about four miles. The next day I logged onto my laptop and pluged some waypoints I knew we were around into a mapping program, and then used the 3D feature to see about where we were (hills, streams, and water catchments) only to find out we were within less than a hundred yards from camp at one point, and took off in the wrong direction. My first mistake was not keeping my orientation, second I trusted my GPS a little too much from the fast pace we were going at, and third for listening to a guy who had only been in the area a couple times while I had just spent over six months preparing for his hunt.

I don't really carry a compass, I have a few but no digital camera It is just a generic compass, nothing fancy but I don't usually carry it with me though I probably should If I'm lost I will use the shadow stick method

Or if dark falls...
You're lost!

Besides, if you get good at using it, you can look for things off the beaten trail. I've used them to find springs, streams or other geological formations or just to use the compass. It can be fun.
