Pretty cool I must say, but a folding saw is satisfactory for me.

How much these things cost?

I paid around $20 for mine. I love the thing, and it works much better than the little wire saws. I tied some 550 cord around the loops so I could put my wrist through them and use it better. I mostly use it while hunting, when I'm trying to open up some shooting lanes for an archery blind or stand. They are fun to use, and work pretty well IMO.

And you would be right. Laughing Try to hike a 12 pound pack, 30 pound tree stand, and however much a chainsaw full of gas it back into the hills. Laughing Not to mention that every chainsaw I have ever used it a total PITA! The chain always looses it's tightness, comes off the bar, and starts whipping around. Shocked I hate those dang things!!! Evil or Very Mad Laughing

That is true, but my dad is an expert with them so i'm pretty good too. I'm sure he can use the thing in his sleep if he wanted to, but that kinda scares me. All in all we have a woodstove so we need a lotta wood.

I would say the hand chain saw is good for hiking and setting up big camps without taking a large heavy axe Cool

Isn't this similar to the wire saw that Les used in the plane crash episode?? I think it is, and his broke in just a few minutes. I remember Les commenting that he wouldn't recommend it, or something like that.

I tried one years ago while I was out in the woods, and it quickly snapped. Maybe it's materials have improved since then, but I'd definitely prefer a small folding camp saw.

This is nothing like that crappy piece of wire Les had. This is a pocket chainsaw. Click the pic, and you'll see one work. Cool

I've seen those retarded wire saws in sporting goods stores and I regard them as crap. Those thing are more useful as snares(as Les demonstrated), kind of like maglites are more useful as clubs. Surprised

Even if they dont break they cutt really slow and you waste a lot of calories.
