Does anyone own one? I have mine that I built just to fit what I wanted it to be. I could find what I wanted in store bought rifles, but they cost way too much for me to justify one. I wanted a 16" 5.56 barrel instead of the .223 with the 1-9 twist so I could shoot the heavier grain bullets, but still shoot some light grain ones for hunting too. It had to be a flat top with a removable carry handle, and have the collapsable butt stock. A bushmaster fit this almost perfectly, but the cost was around $1400 or so. I then found a shop nearby who is very respected, but not well known. Since they were so close I went to go talk with them about building one. Since it was my first AR he said that I should just buy one. But heck I had just finnished building an AK that needed measuring, cutting, grinding, and welding. All the AR needed was to have some pins and screws installed. How hard could that be? Not very, and I had it assembled and operational in less than an hour. I also built it with everything I wanted, and only for $730 OTD. I love it, I shoot long range open sightes with it a lot, 500 yard type stuff, but we have pushed them out a little farther closer to 800 but that was more of a screw around session. I've hunted with it, taken a lot of classes with it, and have also shot it side by side with the national guard at a shooting match. They are a lot of fun, and since I built it for the thicker 5.56 round instead of the .223 round I hardly have any of the misfeeds, or jams that a lot of the other guys seem to have. Not to mention I can shoot the cheaper 5.56 surplus rounds all day long with out worrying about an out of battery accident, or splitting the reciever. Here are the progress pics of the build, and the rifle.....
the military issue M6X light/laser combo with IR light cover. Gifted by a fellow shooter from the National Guard.
And of course having a gun like this means that when you go to a class, or just to the range, you just HAVE to have a cool case to show it off in. So enter the Pelican 1720 case.
That looked cool, but this looks cooler, and is how it appears now. The stock area looks like it was cut out wrong, but infact I cut it out so that the Fixed M16A1 stock will be able to be put on and the same case used for when I go to shoots.
As you can see, the standard M4 handguards have been replaced with a two piece quad rail system, and a timmy trigger was added, but removed when they started to misfire and cause lawsuits. Mine has been reworked so it has a nice 4 pound breaking point with 1/8 travel, and an upgraded recoil spring from WOLF Springs. It's my baby.

That thing is just sick! I would love to have one. I need to get some pictures up of my guns.
Where did you get that shirt? I love it!
5.56? If im not mistaken isnt that the same size round as the H&K MP7-A1, P90, and the Steyr AUG? Those babys pack a punch.

I bought that shirt the day I decided to build an AR and found some Colt magazines for $3 a piece.
As for the 5.56x45 yeah it the same that the MP7 uses as well as a lot of other guns. It's kind of like the .223 and the two can be swapped in the right guns. The problem comes up when the 5.56x45 is put into a gun chambered for the Rem .223. You "can" do it, but you are running a high risk. The preasure in the 5.56 is hotter, so it has a thicker case by maybe 1/1000 of an inch. Not much, but enough to raise the preasure to a dangerous level if the something goes wrong like a bullet seated too deep. You may shoot the 5.56 in a .223 your entire life and have no problems, or you may shoot one, and have your gun split. It's just too big of a risk to me. They are just a .22 on steroids really, but yeah they were designed to enter and do a lot of damage. So much so, that a many "varmit guns" are chambered in .223, only because the 5.56 is a FMJ and illegal to hunt with in many places.

If you reload you can get them for about $.80 a piece. Of course that's after the initial $200 for reloading equipment, powder, primers, cases and bullets.

Negative. I am a stand in shooter for one of the local shooting teams here in the valley. I shoot when they need a man, and they supply ammo and other gear.

The green rails are just covers for them. All they really are is four scope (picitinny {Sp?}) rails so you can mount foward vertical grips, lights, lazers, scout config. scopes, back up scope, or anything else you can think of. The are really rough, and sharp so the green plastic rail covers just cover the sharp sides, and give you something nice to hold on to. It also lets the barrle cool off faster than the standard M4, or A1/2 handguards will.
