How long have you had the Zippo? | I dont know if this is a general question or specific, but I will answer as if general. I have had my Zippo since I was in middle school. My grandfather quite smoking and was like well...wont need this anymore and told me I could have it.

Well, the question was for Dave, but I was curious about yours too, so....all's well that ends well.

>> Ah ! ......... FLF9, i have had my Zippo for about 7 years. And i just figured i now needed a case for it, with a belt loop, that was a must. It turned out good. Better than paying, $ 12/15 for one from a lighter/tobacco store.

I know there are re-fill kits, but I dont know how they work.

Take your zippo, open top, pull out insert, turn upside down. You will see felt, lift this up & then you will see cotton looking material. Take fluid & squirt on cotton, dont soak it. Slide back in case. And light away your blues.

Oh cool, Thanks Dave Nice zippo, I'll get a pick of my new one later if I get the chance, I got it for my birthday which is on Monday
Oh and when you open the felt, do you just pour the fluid straight into the other felt under the top layer of felt? Because when I opened mine i saw that there is more felt under the top layer but I can't really pull it out and it looks like it doesn't want to come out either.

No, it appears it has no connection to Zippo.
I probably wouldn't buy it if I had a Zippo.

I saw once that someone had an LED flashlight that would fit into a standard Zippo case, too...can't remember where though.

my opinion |
|
Zippos have their place and are quite well made . I am inclined to think of them just as I do a metal match in regards to a survival situation : They dry up or run out of fuel quickly , they smell bad , one must also carry extra fuel and flints . Ever try to put in a flint or fill a zippo with frozen hands? (not fun) My opinion : I'd rather save the hassle carry more chaga cotton and sumthing like a strike force take less room no danger of spillage and will produce a h3!! of alot more fires with no maintenence in our circle a zippo is just a high priced spark light when you get down to it and I cannot stand sparklights ,,just my personnel observation of course and yes I do own a few .
