I just watched this episode again last night. I can not imagin being in that storm in just an inflatable safety raft... When it got to the point that it became a matter of les risking his life or making a show and he chose to be rescued (which defonatly ment he felt he was going to die) really says a lot. At least in the wilderness you can look around and see things. Out in the ocean unless you are lucky enough to find an island it would be all the same around you off to the horison. THAT is just creepy in my mind. I'd say that this episode had the most danger out of all of season 1. Your thoughts?

We are afraid of what we cannot see.

The fact the strom was at night made it so much more intense. Les was out there for a while before the storm hit, so he got used to a quiet scenario, and then all of a sudden it starts storming like crazy, thats scary.

The fact that he has no where to escape is pretty bad in iteself, I know when there is lightning outside I like to stay inside.

Even in the wilderness you feel a sense of secuity by just trying to move away from the storm, or finding shelter. Being in the middle of the ocean is much differnt.

For me no doubt being in a raft in the ocean would be really mentally tuff.
I am a high strung person, i would rather be in the costa rica jungle with creepy crawlys than stuck in a little boat in the ocean. I think i would go nut's Confused .

Right about that Dave, me too I guess, I am a very athletic person. I cant stand sitting still, infact, i dont think its possible for me to do. When I sitt I jitter my leg , tap my foot etc. I couldnt stand still in a raft for an hour, let alone 7 days

it would be different if you could see islands or other people, but being totally isolated with no where to go, that is horrible. i dont think i could do it.

seeing the islands would be kind of a tease too tho if you couldn't get to them. and once you are on the island you are stuck there. Once les got on the island i'm sure his moral was boosted. At least there he had access to coconuts, fish, conch, hermit crabs, and could get fresh water. im sure i'd feel a million times better on the island.

I just watched the lost at sea episode once again. I don't know why Les didn't put "hot rocks" into the plastic tub filled with sea water. The heat of the hot rocks would heat the water and the vapors would colect on the plastic cover and more water could collect in the "catch cup," thus giving him more water to drink.

just wondering what you guys think about that situation.

If I did that episode I would have done it differntly. I think he should have brought some solar stills (There are emergency ones that float on the water) and bring tools like salt-fresh water converter. There is this hand crank machine that does that, but it takes a while to get lots of water. Still, in the evenings he could have used it.
